Memorable Song as Thankyou-Gesture for Entrance into then-First League
The widely-known fan-anthem was thought up 4 decades ago. In fact, that song was dedicated to the entrance of NK Osijek into the then-First Federal League, which caused euphoria among the fans.
The lyrics were written by the Osijek author Anto Gardas and composed by Branko Mihaljevic, who was announced the Osijek citizen of the Century in a poll of Gradski Radio. There were occasions in which the song was performed, the most memorable being the quartet Rebus, accompanied by a Baranja octet.

The local band recorded the song in 1985 in an edition of Jugoton. The band consisted of Luka Hećimović, Pavao Tudik, Toni Mačašević, Miroslav Hleb and Dubravko Lažeta, who was executive producer.
“Grad na Dravi, danas slavi“ remained a recognizable anthem not only to Osijek’s fans, but to athletes and sports fans in general and is sung by old and young alike.
