Nine New Playing Fields, Main One of Hybrid Pitch, 5 Natural and 3 Artificial
“Pampas Kamp Skole Nogometa NK Osijek” has been presented to the public at Gradski Vrt that will cost anywhere between 6 and 8,000,000 Euro. The Hungarian government has invested 3,3 mil. After our Football School had published the funding request. It is certain that the most modernized football camp in this part of Europe will rise on Pampas, a lush, nature-rich area of Osijek. Administrative president Ivan Mestrovic said: “It will be 39 acres on which over 500 children will have the perfect training environment. The complex will be 5000 m2 large and will accommodate the families and friends of the trainees. They will be able to comfortably spectate their children as they train. Club quarters will be moved there too so that all may be located in one place.
1,200 spectator tribune on main pitch
The main pitch will be of hybrid grass, have a covered spectator tribune housing 1,200 seats. UEFA criteria will be met in any case, making this complex quite special in Croatia.
“I must say that club employees were involved in the making of the project documentation who know what we need. The solutions in terms of ideas are done, and now we are hiring architects for the plans. I believe that, in 18 months’ time, we might realize this project in quite unfriendly conditions I might add. This is, without a shred of doubt, the largest victory in the history of NK Osijek. Also, simultaneously building a new football camp and reconstructing the stadium is something that nobody else is doing.” Mestrovic stated.
Parking places will be a given, locker rooms will be state-of-the-art, along with the opening of new jobs (20-30) according to some estimates.
New Standards in Retfala district
This project will undoubtedly raise living standards in Pampas and Retfala. The unique thing is that the location of the project is a few hundred meters from the city center.
Things look quite decrepit there, but it will change drastically in a short time span. A new and vast build site will emerge quite soon. The city administration’s responsibility is to sort out the permits, including the construction of the road that will connect the camp to the city. I hereby give my thanks to the “locomotive” at the city administration, Ivan Vrkic, who gave it his all to realize this project. We have the promise of the Football Association of Croatia that they will put in a million euros, which we definitely need. I want to extend my gratitude to my friend and business partner Lorinc Meszaros and the Hungarian government to whom we will pitch our ideas and project in the future and expect financial assets.
Demolishing tribunes, row by row
The press asked Mestrovic about the future of Gradski Vrt, which will be given a new look soon:
- Yes, we will demolish the tribunes row by row, one by one in order to play our home matches there. I insisted personally that that be the way to do things, and we will therefore demolish the northern, southern and eastern one first, while leaving the western tribune intact. 15,000 spectator spots will be open, making visitors feel like they are in a modernized, European-grade stadium. The project should be completed in 2,5 years and we hope that visitors will come long before a game starts, for we will organize many fun activities and events to attract them there. - Mestrovic said.
