This Season’s Hajduk has one obstacle left – NK Osijek. NK Osijek believes it will stay so.

It’s the last showdown for Osijek this season. On Sunday, in the late afternoon hours, Poljud will host Osijek and Hajduk, the latter being above the former on the ladder.

Zekić doesn’t take liking to the situation because he expected his team to make it to the top 3. Even though Osijek can’t threaten the Whites, this is nevertheless an important game because of the mere prospect of beating Hajduk.

A Showdown to be Enjoyed

Osijek has only once managed to net all 3 points while playing in Poljud, so it’s perfectly clear that this will be a cumbersome away match. Captain Barišić and his teammates have good motivation to give 100% in the second-to-last series of the championship.

Osijek wants to win because they want to prove the irrelevance of Hajduk having more points total in addition to Osijek’s motivation to give the fans a good show. There’s therefore no pressure, but Osijek’s competitiveness will not be diminished just because they have nothing to lose. A large attendance is to be expected, both for Osijek’s and for Hajduk’s fans.

At their Best when Up Against the Best

Hajduk wants to be 2nd placed in the end, surpassing Rijeka and then taking on Dinamo Zagreb. They surely need a good morale boost before taking on the champ, so that the duel against Osijek could prove to be a good warm-up game. Osijek has had a good track record when it comes to matches played against Hajduk, winning once and tieing twice, never letting Hajduk get a single win.

Osijek is the only team Hajduk hasn’t beaten yet in the season. To stay undefeated, Osijek will have to be in the champion mindset. They optimistically await the match in Poljud starting at 7 pm.
