MATCH REPORT: OSIJEK – HAJDUK 4-1

Impressions – Osijek played the match with a lot of zeal and tactically adequately. Osijek showed more fervor and drive when compared to Hajduk, even when suffering a goal from Hajduk’s free kick opportunity. In terms of offense, Osijek sought to capitalize on simple solutions in the midfield, albeit aggressively, which resulted in the odd yellow card. It was not in vain, though, because Osijek eliminated the opposing midfielders: Barry, Caktas, Besirovic and Tudor. The defense did their part by liquidating Gyurcso and Ivanovski in the wider penalty area, as well as Saida in the second half.

Key Moment – Bockaj’s efforts in the 64^th minute were priceless, as he took possession of the ball from the inattentive Borja and later forced a penalty kick for Osijek. Hajradinovic scored for 3-1 and cemented Osijek’s sure victory.

Play of the Match – Without a shred of a doubt, Henty’s bicycle kick was insane, landing Osijek the 1-1 tie. Pusic headered the ball into the penalty area, when the Nigerian found the perfect opportunity to score from 10m, with Juranovic and Nizic at his heel. The crowd, naturally, went wild.

The Team – Everyone in Osijek contributed to the overwhelming victory, playing as a unit all game long. Malenica had an easy time, but played assuredly in the occasional play. Mudradzija likely covered every single inch of the field and additionally managed to score for the turnaround. Pusic held his own in the backline until the injury, Hajradinovic ran along the touchline, sprinted even, as he aided the defense, and Bockaj showed discipline and drive, hassling the enemy defense incessantly. Both of our flanks assisted, with Gebi’s debut resulting in a goal and showed that he will prove vital, along with the experienced Skoric. Henty was unpredictable, no one being able to see what he’ll do next, while Kamenar remained quite reserved in his debut, but one could see him coming up as the match progressed.
