The first Match in the European Prelims will be played on July 12th in the National Stadium in Kishinev.

Osijek’s players are facing Moldavian Petrocub in the European prelims, as the draw was made in Nyon. Osijek will play on July 12th. A week after that, Osijek will be home team in the rematch in Gradski Vrt. The NK Osijek HQ has eagerly followed the drawing phase in Switzerland so that they can prepare accordingly and it’s a fact that Osijek has been matched against balanced opponents.

Popescu, Heir to Zekic

Moldavian Football isn’t foreign to Zekic, who had been coaching Sheriff, a club from Moldavia. He will soon go back to Moldavia, where he had started his professional coaching career. He stated: “I’m not quite content with the draw. Petrocub is tightly associated with Sheriff, who are quite the institution there as they have most of their team being players on a loan. Coach Lilian Popescu was Sheriff coach after I had left. I know that his way of running things favors 5 players in the backline, which will be hard to penetrate. Besides that, they have a highly competitive mindset lately, having played 11 championship matches this season and winning against Sheriff.”

The Match will Be Played in Kishinev

NK Osijek’s coach is aware that our team is the clear favorite and must prove themselves in the coming bout.

“It’s already known that we tend to underestimate foes who come from relatively small countries. We must not practice such arrogance. They surely possess a strong team due to them placing in the qualifiers and they are among the top 3 in their country. I know that home matches are played on an artificial pitch in Hincesti, but we have received the information that the match will be played in the National Stadium in Kishinev. I wouldn’t comment much as of now because I must carefully examine the enemy team with my aides so that we come prepared.” Zekic emphasized.
