The 23-year old Goalkeeper arrives from Olympiacos, while having been on loan in Pulian Istra afterwards.

After Karlo Kamenar and Stjepan Radeljic, another young player joins the NK Osijek ranks. Ivica Ivusic arrives from Olympiacos and a loan in Istra. He signed a 4-year contract with Osijek, with his first impressions of the club being more than stellar:

“Osijek is a brilliant club and is deservingly placed consistently in the top 4 positions, so that the choice came naturally. I have followed their conquests in the past season and it has been a joy I must say, especially during prime HNL matches and European league games, where the team looked on point consistently. I am aware that I’m coming to an ambitious circle and it’s now up to me to give my best effort to be on par with the boys” Ivusic said.

The Competition Drives Him

Ivica played for Greek Olympiacos and for Pulian Istra during the past season. Now, he will be competing with Malenica and Santini, as well as Kukic and Antolovic, who is still recovering from an injury.

“I accepted the challenge, even though there were other prospects, even rival clubs to Osijek. When it comes to the competition, it’s always good to have some because it forces us to be on point. I’ve known Malenica because we had met in the past and Santini is a prime goalkeeper, seasoned and experienced.”

Opted for Osijek

It’s no secret that Hajduk called him, too, but Ivusic’s choice was nevertheless Osijek. He was born in Rijeka, but is closely familiar to Slavonia:

“Grandpa Franjo is from Baranian Karanac and grandma Mira is from Njemci in the Vukovar-Srijem County. Therefore, Slavonian blood courses through my veins. I like a lot of things here, especially regarding sports and Osijek in particular. The atmosphere during matches in Gradski Vrt is staggering and I’ll adapt to it. I know that the team is high-quality and that they’re aiming for more and more. NK Osijek is the pride and soul of Slavonia and I’m happy to be part of such a beautiful success story.”
