A good game was played by the 2 teams, but the home team stole the show
Osijek II and Sesvete played a brilliant match in the second match of the 2nd league. Granted, one score isn’t what we’re used to seeing, considering the ample chances both teams had, especially in front of the away team’s goal. In the end, the home team deservingly triumphed over the guests.
Home Team Showed more Resolve
Even though Osijek showed up a little bit nervous in the first home match, their resolve proved vital in the end. They were more determined, kept the ball in enemy territory consistently and therefore almost capitalized on a lot of chances. Spoljaric had a few of them, especially the chance towards the end of the first half, Daku’s effort and Loncar’s header. Susak stood his ground successfully, while the opponents threatened us with Dago and Jovicevic, who weren’t able to get the jump on Kukic.
Kukic Stole the Show
The deciding moment happened in the 57th minute when Spoljaric let loose from 17 meters away. The goalkeeper defended, but the agile Daku found the rebound ball and scored. This raised the fans’ spirits, but the score remained a steady 1-0. Kukic had a lot of work to do, too. The post saved his skin when the ball ricocheted off of it into his teammate, Sutalo, after which Dago missed a guaranteed score. Osijek II has met our expectations in front of ~400 spectators
