- His father, Nikolaj, was born in Estonia, while his mother, Natalia, was born in Kazakhstan. They met during their college years in Moscow. Later, they chose to live together in Finland.

- He played in the younger age groups of HJK Helsinki. His first professional play was in the club Klubi 04.
