A transfer to Vitória Guimarães has been agreed, and we thank our forward for everything and wish him lots of luck at his new club!
NK Osijek and Arnel Jakupović are ending their shared journey – the 28-year-old forward will continue his career at Portugal's Vitória Guimarães.
He arrived at Opus Arena in August 2024 from Slovenia's Maribor, and in the white-and-blue jersey he played 67 official matches and scored 16 goals. He also found the net twice this season – against Rudeš away in Velika Gorica, and recently against Lokomotiva at Opus Arena.
After two years together, the time has come for a new challenge. Vitória Guimarães's offer represented an opportunity that satisfied both Arnel and the Club, so he will continue his career in the Portuguese league. He leaves Opus Arena with 67 appearances, 16 goals, and many moments we will fondly remember.
Through his goals, effort, and attitude toward the team, Arnel left his mark in the white-and-blue jersey. He was an important part of the squad at various moments and a player who could be relied upon both on and off the pitch.
"It's hard for us to see Arnel go. Through his play he contributed extremely positively to the results of this young team. Jakupović is a player we will miss on the pitch as well. We wish him all the luck in Portugal – we're confident he'll be successful at his new club too. He will always have a special place in our hearts," said sporting director Kenneth Zandvliet.
