Bessone: I Enjoyed Watching Our Boys

The White and Blues defeated Dinamo 4-2 at Opus Arena. Armando Leon scored two goals in the first half, while Luka Vrbančić and Domagoj Bukvić found the net in the second half. After the match, head coach Federico Bessone made no secret of his satisfaction with his team’s performance.

I am very happy, above all because of the players, especially because we had a very difficult week. We lost in Rijeka, and in the Cup we did not play the way we wanted, but we managed to change our mentality in two days. We brought back the positivity, and I am very proud of the way the boys played. I want to thank all the people who came to the stadium and supported us from the first minute to the last.

Osijek pressed the visitors high from the very beginning of the match and went into half-time with a two-goal lead.

That was our plan from beginning to end – to press them very high. We won high balls and second balls and caused Dinamo a lot of problems. The boys showed their personality and managed to maintain a high tempo throughout the entire match. I enjoyed watching them. They dominated with and without the ball, and at the same time you could see that the team was enjoying playing the game.

Bessone pointed out that after a big victory, the team must immediately turn its attention to the next challenge.

If we were able to play like this against Dinamo, we have to continue working and show that we can repeat this against every team. We must not relax because Varaždin are a dangerous opponent. We will have to be very focused and play even better.
