Domagoj Bukvić reflected on the draw with Gorica and said that the White-and-Blues are already turning their attention to the next match at Opus Arena.

The White-and-Blues drew 1–1 with Gorica at Opus Arena in Round 10 of the SuperSport HNL. The visitors took the lead in the 23rd minute through Pranjić, while Armando Leon equalised for Osijek in the 68th minute. Both teams pushed for a winning goal in the second half, but the score remained unchanged.

I don’t think we were at our best in the first half, and the fact is that we didn’t start the match well. We weren’t winning our duels, and they were getting to all the second balls. It was a poor 45 minutes from us, but we looked better after the break. We raised our level of play, took the initiative, gained possession and created chances, scoring the equaliser. Unfortunately, the second goal never came, said Domagoj Bukvić.

“We started winning our duels in the second half”

After the break, Osijek raised the tempo, won possession more frequently and created opportunities in front of Gorica’s goal.

We talked among ourselves about how little we had offered in the first half, and Gorica are a team that knows how to punish that. In the second half, we started winning our duels, although I think we needed to play more directly and become more dangerous in their penalty area. We scored the equaliser, but Gorica also had three goals ruled out for offside. We had our chances in the second half, but I think this was ultimately the fairest result, Bukvić added.

The White-and-Blues will play their third consecutive match in front of their home supporters. Next weekend, Rudeš will visit Opus Arena.

We need to keep moving forward, hold our heads up, play as we did in the second half and prepare for Rudeš. At home, we must always aim to win, and that is how we will prepare for the next match, Bukvić concluded.
